MAX (001)
cryostasis.. the word, that damn word was all he seemed to hear those days. everyone wanted it, but of course they did. nobody would want to die from a nuclear apocalypse. even max's family wanted it, and originally.. he wanted it too. that was until it was informed that unfortunately, they wouldn't have enough room for them.
1967; max still remembers it, being yanked away from his family as it happened. they were watching the alert on the television. it was coming, everything was over. nuclear bombs they said, that's what started it all. scientist's men, the grip on max's, so tight, bruising. he can still feel it sometimes. it wasn't fair, why him?
he's awaken one day. being told the year was 2018. just a bit ago, huh? the scientists they tell him that everyone is dead. so many questions flood from his lips, only to be told max was for experimental purposes.
the world; it didn't look new, everything looked so— dead. nobody in sight, from what he could see anyways. he was told that everyone had died. nobody was left here, and it was in the middle of nowhere. he believed it, i mean, what was he supposed to think?
he wasn't allowed to leave, he was theirs now. their lab rat. they treated him as if they were making some— some superhuman. radioactive chemicals shoved into his body daily. the burning pain of them. the scientists, they took his arm, just up to the elbow. claiming they were testing the regeneration of the limb.
surprise surprise, it didn't grow back, now he's left with some robotic left arm.
he isn't happy here, but he's grown used to it. each morning, waking up and already being poked and tested before he can even fully wake up. somedays he wants to leave, would it be easy to get away? there isn't much to life out there apparently anyways. all he knows is the entire world is gone, from what he's told.
